Top Tracks, whenever you like
Top Tracks® is our music party game, made for a room full of friends. Top Tracks Solo is for the other nights — the train home, a quiet lunch break, the evening nobody can come round. Cards from the same deck, the same arguments about taste, no host and no waiting for everyone to turn up.
Every match is four seats and three cards: a decade, a genre and an association, dealt in a random order. You play signed-in players from around the world, and when there aren’t enough people looking for a game, clearly labelled bots fill the empty seats so you are never left waiting long.
How to play
Pick
A card is dealt to everyone at once. You have 60 seconds to search for a song that fits and lock it in. Two players can’t pick the same song.
Listen
All four picks play as 30-second previews, one after another, as Track A to D. Each title appears as its track starts, but who picked what stays secret.
Rank
Rank the other three tracks 1st, 2nd and 3rd for 3, 2 and 1 points. If your 1st choice is the round’s most-loved track, you get a Good Ear bonus point.
Reveal
Each round ends with a reveal of who picked what. After the third card comes the Big Reveal — and the winner plays one more tune of their choice: the Winner’s Pick.
More than one match
Every song you hear is one you might want to hear again.
Open in your music app
Once a track is revealed, open it in Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music and more. Choose your app once and every track goes straight there.
☆ Save for later
Star any track to keep it in Saved tracks, with its preview and a link to open it. My tracks keeps every track from your recent matches for 90 days.
Seasons and ratings
Ranked matches earn season points — the board resets every month — and move your all-time rating. Matches against bots only are practice and don’t count.
Free to play
Top Tracks Solo is free, with ads at natural breaks: while players are being found, during the reveals after the first two cards, below your results and on the leaderboards. Never during a card, a pick, a preview, ranking or the Big Reveal.
- 5 free matches a day.
- 3 more when you choose to watch an ad.
- 2 more when you share your result, once a day. Sharing never earns leaderboard points.
Fair play and safety
- 13 and over to play people. Only signed-in accounts, which need the 13+ confirmation, are matched with other players. Guests play bots.
- No chat. Players are shown by a made-up name like “Velvet Otter 482”, never an email, and nobody can type a name or a message. In matches with other people you can send a handful of set reactions — Great pick, New to me, Tune!, Good game, Unlucky, Ha!
- Report and block. Report a player for an offensive track, unfair play or something else, and block them so you are never matched again.
- Report a track. If a song doesn’t fit the card, is explicit or offensive, or won’t play properly, report it. Your own bots leave it out from their next deal, and a track reported by enough players is taken out of the bots’ picks for everyone.
- Clean songs only, for every player and every bot.
- Leaving costs. Leave a match with other people in it and it counts as a loss, and you wait a little longer before the next one.
Frequently asked questions
What is Top Tracks Solo?
A quick game of Top Tracks for when nobody is free. You tap Play now and play a short match against three other players: three cards, a track for each, 30-second previews, then you rank everyone else’s picks. A match takes about ten minutes.
Do I play against real people?
If you are signed in with an account (13 and over), you are matched with other signed-in players anywhere in the world. If not enough people are looking for a game, bots fill the empty seats after about 20 seconds. There’s a “Play with bots now” button from the start: once everyone waiting has tapped it, bots fill the empty seats straight away. Guests play against bots.
How do I know if I am playing a bot?
Bots are always marked. They have bot names and a BOT badge on every screen, and they are never passed off as people. They pick real songs that fit the card, and they can win.
How does the scoring work?
After the four previews, you rank the other three tracks: your 1st choice gets 3 points, your 2nd gets 2 and your 3rd gets 1. You can’t rank your own. If your 1st choice turns out to be the round’s most-loved track, you get a Good Ear bonus point. The most points after three cards wins.
Is it free?
Yes. Top Tracks Solo is free to play, with ads at natural breaks — never during a card, a pick, a preview, ranking or the Big Reveal. You get 5 free matches a day. When they are used up, you can watch an ad for 3 more, or share your result for 2 more once a day.
Do I need an account?
No — guests can play straight away, against bots. An account (just an email address; you sign in with an emailed link, no password) is for people aged 13 and over, and it lets you play real people, earn season points and a rating, and keep your saved tracks on every device.
Can I listen to the full song?
Yes. Once a track has been revealed, you can open it in your own music app — Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music and more. Choose your app once and every track opens there. During the blind listen, who picked what stays hidden, so nothing gives the game away.
How do I keep the songs I liked?
Tap the ☆ on any track to save it for later; your Saved tracks are kept in one place, with previews and links to open them. My tracks keeps every track from your recent matches for 90 days, and you can copy or download a match’s list.
Are the songs suitable for everyone?
Top Tracks Solo uses clean versions only: explicit tracks are hidden from search and refused if picked, and bots only pick clean songs. If a track still doesn’t belong, you can report it.
How do the leaderboards work?
Ranked matches — ones with at least two signed-in people — earn season points (10 for 1st, 6 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd and 1 for 4th, plus a point for every Good Ear) and move your all-time rating. Seasons run for a calendar month. Matches against bots only are practice: no points and no rating. Bots never appear on a board.
