Your quiz, your rounds

Top Quiz is for pubs, home quiz nights and workplaces. The host builds the quiz, puts it on the big screen and runs the night. Teams join and answer on their own phones, and there is nothing for anyone to install.

Every quiz gets a name, and by default it is a film pun — “Quiztin Powers”, “Les Quizerables” — so your night has a title before you’ve written a question.

Pick your rounds

Build the night from a library of round types:

  • Questions. Multiple choice or typed answers, with picture, audio and video questions.
  • Observation. A picture or clip shown once, then questions about it.
  • Picture reveal. Name the picture as it zooms out; the sooner you answer, the more you score.
  • The Link: clues. Four clues, one at a time; spot what links them for 4 points down to 1.
  • The Link: grid. Sort 16 words into four groups of four on your phone.
  • Ladder. Climb a ladder of harder questions; bank your points or risk them.
  • Specialist Subject. Each team picks a topic.
  • Name That Song. The host plays clips; points for the song and the artist.
  • Lonely Answer. The rarer your correct answer, the more it scores.
  • Six Degrees: music. Link two artists in as few steps as you can.
  • Six Degrees: film and TV. Link two actors through shared films and shows.
  • Top Tracks. Teams pick a track for the category, the host plays them, and the room votes.
  • Rock paper scissors. Beat the host and be the last team standing; also settles ties.
  • The Room Says. Guess how the room answered a quick survey.
  • Letters and Numbers. The longest word from nine letters, and hit the target with six numbers.

Stuck for questions? Pick a topic and Top Quiz suggests some, checked online, for you to choose from.
